Juan Castro Blanco National Park (In Search For

The Quetzal)


Juan Castro Blanco National Park is an excellent place for bird watching, specially the famous Quetzal, so distinguished for its colorful majestic feathers.

At and tour and a half hour from La Fortuna and going through the plains of San Carlos, we will get to this beautiful place surrounded by cloud forests where most of the main rivers of the northern huetar area spring. Our nature guides and tours plus the beautiful scenery of the area will make a great combination. Total area of the park is of 14,250 hectares (approximately 35,600 acres) created by decree in 1992.

60% of the total area of the park is covered by primary forest and the rest consists of patches of secondary forest. This tour will end with a delicious lunch with trout for main course.

 

 
Departure time in the morning: 7:30 a.m. approximately. Return: 5:00 p.m.
What you’ll need to bring: Hiking shoes, clothes change, raincoat, insect repellent, camera.
