The tour departs La Fortuna at 7:00am, for a 25 minute drive along paved roads, followed by about 45 minutes on a gravel road decorated with panoramic views.
Once we arrive, we will settle in at the Pocosol Station Lodge, and then take a hike along one of the two forest trails to search for birds and animals.

Refugio de vida Silvestre Caño Negro Overnight

The tour departs from La Fortuna at 2:00 pm, for the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge; founded in 1984 in order to protect the wetlands and wildlife of the region. Once in the Refuge, we will take a boat ride along Río Frío in search of bird species – both aquatic birds and those found in the surrounding forest and farmlands. |

Juan Castro Blanco Park overnight

This tour departs from La Fortuna at 3:00pm, in order to spend the evening bird watching near the Montereal Mountain Lodge, where we will spend the night. In this late afternoon bird watching we will observe the birds´ activity prior to sunset. The lodge is in the Juan Castro Blanco National Park, which is comprised of 14258 hectares or primary and secondary forest, primarily tropical cloud forests. The park was founded in 1992 to protect the forest and aquifers which form in these beautiful mountains. |
